The two Arduino courses we’re running this month are progressing nicely. It’s great to see our Arduino kits being used to their fullest and it’s awesome to see our new Makerspace buzzing with activity. Our Saturday sessions in April have been booked up, but we’ve opened a new class running on Wednesday evenings and we have some spaces available.
We also have some great news! We’re joining the CoderDojo family and have set up our Douglas Makerspace as a Dojo. We’re asking everyone to sign up to the CoderDojo site as this lets you book places on our classes. It has facilities for parents to set up their kids and book them on classes and it lets us assign badges to those who complete our classes. As we add more classes, you’ll also get notification of these classes before anyone else. So please go ahead and sign yourself up here: https://zen.coderdojo.com/dojo/im/douglas/douglas-iom-steam-lab
This Wednesday we’re also running a Twilight Session where we run a session focussed on a particular technology. This week the focus is going to be Computer Vision, using some little device called a Pixy. It’s designed to connect directly to an Arduino so that the device can act directly on what the Pixy is seeing. Interesting? If so, come check it out this Wednesday between 8:00pm and 10:00pm
